similar to the topic posted by Disc Cart in the "Everything Else" Forum where he asks what makes you click away from a video, I wanted to start a convesation here on what makes you actually click ON a video. Do you always click on videos from specific creators? or does it matter the topic? -'d if the topic matters, what are your favorite topics that get covered? Reviews? Rants? Predictions? Speculation? Comedy? The Thumbnail!?
Im interested to hear your thoughts! personally, I try to watch every video from every channel I follow, but sometimes life gets busy, or everyone uploads the same day, or everyone is covering the same topic... so I dont always end up watching everything i normally would like to.
what about you? How do you prioritize watching?
Interest. If it's something I'm interested in, or want to learn from, I view that video or other videos similar to that.
Reviews - I don't watch reviews. I form my own opinion and if someone asks, I'll tell them and why.
Rants - It really depends on the subject. Like John Hancock's latest video, my best friend and I were discussing a similar topic during lunch yesterday and I brought up things that John said, had agreements and disagreements. At the end of it, I told my friend that it's discussions like this I wish I could record and put up on YouTube or some other platform. So people hear the tone of voice and my sentiments on the subject. That way it's not just words on a tweet where dozens can interpret wrong.
Gameplay videos - Absolutely!
Comedy - Love me a good laugh.
Thumbnails I could care less about. (Mainly because I don't have the tools to do my own)
I'll be honest, I don't watch a lot of who I'm subbed to, mainly because I'm busy doing my own gameplay stuff/streaming. But there's a few I do like to catch when they've posted something, which I try to do at work where it's a bit more convenient.
For me topic matters but I always click on people I'm subbed to if not just to watch for a minute and leave a like if it seems good. I'll watch the whole video if it's something I'm super into. I love smaller youtubers at this point because they upload what they want instead of just creating click bait and videos people want.
Generally topic is what matters the most to me. While thumbnails are important, they aren't necessarily the deciding factor on whether I click on a video or not. I do enjoy comedy based videos though and in that case, a good comedic thumbnail does matter cause it shows me the video is going to be humorous.
