Singer/rapper Post Malone, who is also renowned as an ardent collector of Magic: The Gathering cards, has acquired an extremely rare Lord of the Rings card, believed to be valued at over $2 million.

Wizards of the Coast, the creators of Magic: The Gathering, crafted this extraordinary variant of Sauron's Ring as a singular piece when adapting Lord of the Rings into a card set. This elusive card, known as the One Ring, was first discovered by Brook Trafton in June, and Post Malone has now become the proud owner.

Trafton shared his exhilaration over the trade in a recent TikTok video, stating, “When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was Post Malone. I have played MTG since I was a kid, and selling it is life changing.”

The scarcity of the One Ring is extraordinary, with the likelihood of encountering it in a pack from the newly released The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth set being approximately 1 in 3 million. The card was graded at a mint 9 and had an estimated worth of $2 million. In fact, a Spanish gaming store had offered a staggering $2.1 million for it.

So why did Trafton choose Post Malone? The rapper's fascination with the Magic: The Gathering franchise is well known. He has collaborated with Wizards of the Coast, streamed his own tournaments, and previously bought a legendary Black Lotus card, artist-proof and monochrome, for a cool $800,000.

In a moment that Trafton described as “straight out of a fairytale,” he conveyed his hope that the card would go to someone who valued it as much as he did. Meeting Post Malone and selling him the One Ring card fulfilled a dream.

Post Malone's acquisition of this rare card adds to his growing collection and symbolizes the connection between pop culture and the world of trading card games. His passion for the game is not just a hobby but a profound appreciation for the art, history, and competitive spirit that Magic: The Gathering embodies. I guess if you got a lot of money, you can spend it in some seriously ridiculous ways... Credit:
