Super Mario Bros. Movie Review!


The much-awaited Super Mario Bros movie has finally hit theaters on April 5th, 2023, and it definitely lives up to the hype! This fantastic film, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, is a fantastic homage to the classic video game franchise that has captured the hearts of gamers worldwide. The movie manages to capture the essence of the game while also being a fantastic standalone film.

One of the highlights of the movie is the numerous nods to previous Mario games that fans will surely appreciate. From the familiar Mushroom Kingdom to the thrilling race through the haunted halls of a castle, the movie includes many iconic settings and references to beloved Mario titles. Even the soundtrack includes remixed versions of classic Mario tunes, which is sure to evoke a sense of nostalgia for longtime fans.

But the film is more than just a series of callbacks to the games. The voice acting in the movie is top-notch, and the cast brings the characters to life in a way that feels fresh and engaging. Chris Pratt does an excellent job voicing the titular character Mario, perfectly capturing his enthusiasm and can-do spirit. Meanwhile, Anya Taylor-Joy brings depth and complexity to Princess Peach, making her a more compelling character than ever before. Jack Black shines as the lovable and clumsy Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key brings a great energy to his role as Luigi.

Didn't watch your review, mostly because I'm avoiding spoilers like the plague till my bro and I can see the film next Thursday. But based on some of the reactions I've seen/read (including yours), at the very least people are saying the film is a lot of fun. Not really sure what I expect to see—entertainment as a whole right now is utter bilge—but I'll be happy if the theaters here in KY offer those cool Super Mario Bros. ? Block popcorn bins at the concession stand. 😁
