Expedition 33 Developers Now Accused of Being "Racist"

French Leftists Are Trying to Cancel the Devs of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33... It's Not Working
Lots of success from a little-known studio? Yeah... That didn’t take long.

About a month after Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stunned the gaming world with its gorgeous reveal and exciting promise, those usual suspects have crawled out of the woodwork... this time, targeting the developers at Sandfall Interactive. And for what? Because the devs happen to be white. That’s it. That’s the crime.
Leftist activists in France have launched a coordinated smear campaign accusing Sandfall of racism, nationalism, and even fascism, because of course they'd throw that last one in there - despite zero evidence. Their accusations? That Sandfall is “gatekeeping” non-white and non-French developers, that the team consists of “bigots” expelled from Ubisoft during its workplace drama, and that Expedition 33 is some kind of veiled patriotic propaganda piece. No, seriously. I'm... I'm not joking.

Their most desperate claim throughout all this? That the game is racist because one of the few black characters dies early on, conveniently ignoring any and all context or nuance, because outrage is the point here of course, not logic. Who needs logic when there's a grift to pounce on!
Sandfall responded pretty fast to the controversy with class and clarity in a post on X:
"We've noticed discussions online concerning us and our values, so we want to make this absolutely clear:
Expedition 33 was created with respect and tolerance by teams and partners from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives.
Our game was crafted with love.
Please don't weaponise it to spread hate."
That’s the only response that should have been necessary. Some could argue no response would be better. Not to acknowledge these fools... But we all know it won’t be.
The radical left isn’t interested in truth or art, they’re addicted to outrage and need constant targets to stay relevant. Honestly, not so different from the radical right... But horseshoe theory is something I don't have time to dive into here now... Anyways, when the usual buzzwords stop working, they invent new ones. This is a well-worn playbook: accuse developers of being racist, transphobic, misogynist, or nationalist in a cheap attempt to drum up some controversy and score those all-important woke points.
It’s performative activism once again, and gamers are - at this point, beyond sick of it.

This pattern has been exposed time and time again. These attacks are not made in good faith. They’re grifts. They prey on protected classes to manufacture narratives, drum up FAKE AF outrage, and then of course go on to promote their own personal agendas. Typically checking the profiles of these folks often reveals some sort of confused gender ideology or other various mental "concern".

The public has wised up. We’ve seen this same script play out with Hogwarts Legacy, Black Myth: Wukong, and countless others in recent years.
But here's the truth: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 speaks for itself. It’s one of the most best games I've ever played. And no amount of bitter, desperate smear campaigns from online activists can or will ever change that.
This isn’t just a defense of Sandfall Interactive. It’s a rejection of the broken culture that attacks artists for existing. And this time? Thankfully... People aren’t buying that BS anymore.

The characters didn’t announce their pronouns, so all the loonies are angry.
Here we go again...
When certain people call you racist, you know you're doing something right. However, I am worried by their reaction that they will give into the woke mob.
Even though the game has some DEI elements unless it's Dragon Age levels of cringe the wokies will not be happy and will attack the dev.
