Suda51 and Swery65 Unveil Gameplay for "Hotel Barcelona"

Two of the gaming industry's renowned creators, Goichi Suda (popularly known as Suda51) and Hidetaka Suehiro (famously known as Swery65), have pulled back the curtain to give us a glimpse of the gameplay for their upcoming title "Hotel Barcelona".
Both gaming legends, known for their contributions with games like "No More Heroes" and "Deadly Premonition" respectively, initially hinted back in 2019 about their joint venture into the world of horror. Their much-anticipated project, "Hotel Barcelona", promises to deliver a blend of 2.5D action elements infused with dark humor inspired by slasher films. The intriguing storyline is conceived by Suda51, while the direction and writing come from Swery65. Gamers can look forward to its launch on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC via Steam in 2024.
A recent trailer showcased during the Tokyo Game Show broadcast on Xbox has successfully fueled the anticipation, providing fans with their first peek into the game's captivating visuals and dynamics.
In a conversation with Xbox Wire, Suehiro shared insights about the setting and essence of the game. He described "Hotel Barcelona" as an expansive leisure hub, equipped with diverse attractions like a casino and a camping ground, creating a harmonious blend of seven unique yet interconnected realms. The fascinating twist? Each world harbors its own serial killer boss, challenging players to strategize, confront, and eventually conquer these menacing foes.
Suehiro added:
"Considering both Suda-san and I are behind this, expect every world to have its own set of eerie surprises."
These worlds are not just random concoctions of horror. They represent distinct subgenres of horror movies, from slasher themes to zombie apocalypses, each echoing iconic tropes that have been etched into the annals of horror cinema.
The joint endeavor of these two gaming powerhouses into the horror genre promises to offer a thrilling gaming experience that balances action, intrigue, and dark comedy. To me it looks like a dynamic blend of Strider and Ninja Gaiden, set to the backdrop of a horror slasher flick.
I'll be keeping my eye on this one.
