Even a cursory glance at Manuel's portfolio reveals a daring departure from conventional artistic norms. His pieces are distinctly digital, showcasing an aesthetic that is as much about the technology used to create them as the visual result. The expectation might have been that his unique approach would bring a fresh, contemporary feel to the Duke Nukem franchise. However, in retrospect, Manuel's portfolio could have hinted at a potential clash of AI-enhanced artistry and the traditional, hand-crafted aesthetic cherished by the Duke Nukem community. Proving that... in all honesty, Evercade saw no issues using AI to assist with artwork, until community backlash occured.

From my perspective, we need to consider the potential of AI in the creation of promotional products and game art. As the world moves towards a more digitized era, AI's prevalence will continue to grow. Much like how we adapted to roads, electricity, and the internet, the rise of AI is inevitable.

The criticism towards the AI-generated art might be viewed as resistance to change, a sentiment ingrained in human nature. However, it also raises a pertinent question: What is the boundary between tradition and technology in the world of gaming?

It's easy to label Blaze Entertainment's decision as a weak move, as capitulating to the pressure from the gaming community. But the gaming industry is ultimately customer-driven, and this decision is obviously a strategic business move. Byatt's decision to withdraw the controversial art and commission a new one signifies his respect for the Duke Nukem and Evercade community, and acknowledges the importance of upholding the traditions and standards that fans have come to associate with their beloved franchise.
