YouTube Premium Price Is Increasing: iPhone Users DO THIS NOW!

In a move that's left subscribers grappling with their budgets, YouTube Premium recently announced an increase in its monthly subscription fee. But amidst the discomfort of this decision, there's a silver lining for those who have purchased their subscriptions through Apple.

The Cost of Premium Content

In an email to subscribers, YouTube cited the need to "continue delivering great service and features" as the driving force behind the price increase. The new cost? A cool $18.99 per month. Despite the hike, as a subscriber, I can confidently say the ad-free and downloadable videos, background play, and access to the YouTube Music app, among other features, make the service worth the price. However, the price increase raises a question: is there a way for users to continue enjoying the service without the added financial strain?

Bypassing Apple's Premium Price

Interestingly, there is. Subscribers who purchased their YouTube Premium plan through Apple are currently paying a higher rate. The good news? There's a simple workaround for this. Users can cancel their existing subscription via their iPhone or iPad settings and then renew it directly through Google, thereby sidestepping Apple's additional fee.

Here's the step-by-step process:

  1. Go to your iPhone or iPad settings.

  2. Click on your Apple ID at the top, then tap 'Subscriptions.'

  3. Locate your YouTube Premium subscription and hit 'Cancel Subscription.'

  4. Confirm cancellation.

It's important to note that cancellation will end your subscription at the end of your current billing cycle, so you won't lose any days you've already paid for.

Once your Apple-based subscription is canceled, renew it directly through Google. To do this:

  1. Visit the YouTube Premium website.

  2. Click on 'Get YouTube Premium.'

  3. Follow the prompts to set up your new subscription.

Cost-Saving with Google

By transitioning your subscription to Google, the new rate for YouTube Premium is reduced to $13.99/month. While this is still an increase from the previous rate, it's a significant $5 less when compared to the $18.99/month rate when billed through Apple.

For subscribers grappling with the price hike, this switch could offer significant savings over time, without the loss of YouTube Premium's diverse array of features and benefits.

While we all value the ad-free, versatile experience YouTube Premium offers, there's no denying the impact of price increases on subscribers' wallets.

By taking these steps, Apple users can continue to enjoy YouTube Premium's services at a more manageable cost. Just remember to always check the status of your account and billing information, accessible through your Settings > Purchases and Memberships page.
