I think it was 1989 or 1990, I forget. It was bad enough playing "cross-handed" meaning I had to use the buttons on the left side instead of the right because they were broken. Basically I played the entire game with my right hand on the buttons on the left side while my left hand controlled the joystick. I also remember we were playing 2 players and the guy was frustrated I wouldn't die and kept on playing. When I got to the 2nd quest, I just quit. I saw no point in playing again. I don't know why Capcom designers thought that a second quest to get the real ending made sense. That was really stupid and I am so glad such a thing never happened in gaming...did it? I never did ever experience this nonsense in video games again since then. To put this into context, it is very much doable even at my age as a middle-aged adult. Just know the enemy patterns and availability, and practice over and over again. I see far superior speedruns of Japanese game players especially in games with "bullet hell" such as shooters as that is not really predictable and is a far better indicator of hand-eye coordination and reflex skills.
