MAJOR Channel Announcement & Update - Smash JT

Updated: Nov 30, 2019

I have no idea how to go about announcing things like this, so I suppose right here is as good a place as any to start...

The past nearly 3 years, challenging platform norms and typical lines of thought have been life changing. A world within a world that I previously had very little knowledge of even existing. Incredible friendships made that are sure to last a lifetime. This isn't to say it was all for not, or even that Smash JT is coming to an 'end'... Moreso, we are about to enter a new chapter for the brand. Smash JT has endured it's fair share of challenges & struggles, so at the end of the day, this nothing all too 'new'...

I am happy (and a tad bittersweetly saddened) to announce that I have accepted a full time, high level, Technical Content Developer position at an extremely exciting, fast paced startup company in San Diego, CA.

It deals directly with working hand-in-hand with engineering, developing software to battle internet security 'bad guys', somewhat similar to what I previously worked on during my time at Qualcomm back in 2016.

Technical jargon aside, ultimately what's important to gather from all this is that my time will be heavily strapped going forward. Though I have no plans of 'stopping' Smash JT whatsoever, it would be foolish for me to assume that I could keep up the current pace of content that has been published on the channel over the past few years.

It would've been nice for Smash JT to have grown at the rate I'd expected (based off the insane time & efforts poured in), but alas, as many of you already know, that's not at all how YouTube works these days.

In an incredibly tumultuous landscape with ever-changing rules & regulations, the uncertainty & lack of sustainable growth has ultimately reached a wild tipping point.

This opportunity was presented to me, and I didn't think twice.

YouTube will always be a part of who I am. The amazing life lessons I've learned, friendships made, and incredible leaps I've made as a human being... I'm not about to just 'walk away' from it all completely.

No one knows what the future holds, but we always need to make the best decisions for ourselves and our families.

Let's be real, YouTube is an absolute blast, and beyond thrilling each and every day; but thrills don't pay bills, and I've been falling behind the proverbial 'eight ball' of debt for quite a few months now...

This new career is an exciting proposition, and one that will certainly send my world spinning. It may not be the direction I had initially envisioned, but if life was so predictable, where would the fun be?

Thank you all for the tremendous support over the years; here's to the next level.

Stay SMASHING!

-Jeff
